    How to disable autoplay in windows media player

    Please tell me a way to disable autoplay in windows media player. Since sometimes it really annoys me whenever i insert a cd or dvd disc the windows media player stops currently played file and asks me to play the files on the disc i do not want media player to autoplay my files. I would really appreciate your help.

    Follow the steps which are mentioned below to disable autoplay in windows media player

    * Go to start menu and then select control panel.
    * Within the control panel then look for the Autoplay option.
    * Select "Change default settings for autoplay".
    * Here select "Take no action".

    To disable the Autoplay from windows media player just right click on my computer and then select View and tools and open folder options. In the folder options click the Files type tab. Click Click the type of AudioCD after that click advanced. You will see the action list here click play and finally set defaults.

    Download and install TweakUI for your windows operating system and then simply double click TweakUI icon to launch the application. You will notice a tree expand the My Computer by double clicking it after that select Autoplay branch and select drives. Now turn off the checkbox near the letter of the cd drive to disable autoplay this should fix the issue.

    I would suggest you to follow the steps which i have listed these steps should help you to disable the autoplay of the cd/dvd in windows media player.
    1. Open registry editor from the start menu by typing regedit in the run box.
    2. Search for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom.
    3. Now right click it and select edit and type 0 for its value.
    4. Apply the settings and close the windows and restart it once.

    You can disable this by simply disabling the autorun function of the cd drive itself. you simply need to follow the steps which are mentioned below:

    • Select my computer properties and click the device manager tab.
    • Double click on CD-ROM clicking and select the Settings tab
    • Unselect the " Auto insert notification box" by clicking it click OK.
    • Reboot your computer to make this change come in to effect.
