    ffmpeg2theora problem on debian

    Hi,
I have a server on debian, and I use ffmpeg2theora to encode a flv video in ogv.
This is the command which I issue in the command prompt
    Code:
    ffmpeg2theora-v 8-FlashUowzY7 o FlashUowzY7.ogv
And I get an error while I do this, I am wrong with the command, if yes then please give me the correct syntax of the command. Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
If I am not wrong, it does not support opening flv, what is the error message that your are getting after you have issued the command in the terminal? Can you give the version you use?
You can try the following command in the terminal.
    Code:
    ffmpeg2theora - help | head-n 1
It will perhaps have to unzip the flv with ffmpeg then convert theora. Hope this will help you.

    Re: ffmpeg2theora problem on debian

    Hello,
I came across quite a few post that said this error was the lack of Ubuntu in "Ubuntu-Restricted-Extras". It seems the package:
    Code:
    ubuntu-restricted-extras
Try to install it and then issue the command in the terminal see if it works. Incidentally Fedora one is 0.26 I do not know if it changes anything but I have not seen in the additions between the 2 versions management flv described.

    Hello,
But I am on the Debian Linux operating system, so it's normal that I have version 2.1, while the current version is 0.26. So ubuntu-restricted-extras is not in the repositories. Any way thanks for your reply, if you have any alternate solution the i am interested and if you know how to repair this then please let me know.

    Hello,
Ok, I am sorry about it, I forgot that you use the Debian Linux operating system. I normally use the fedora so it was just slip of tong. But my opinion is the same for Debian it should be necessary third party packages that are in the special package. I refer in particular to gstreamer, try to do the install to this software and then see if this works for you.
