    Hi all,

The free open source software ignores the significance of an updated version. Although the free software i can use other names to give me the same freedom but a big difference. We use the name of a different name which express different ideas. So I want to know that why Free Software is Better than Open Source. Any idea.

Why Free Software is Better than Open Source

A number of free software communities, people began to open source instead of free software to describe the things they are engaged. The term open source was soon linked to a difference of philosophy in different ways the concept of different values and even what kind of license acceptable standards. The free software movement and open source movement today, they are two different campaigns have different views and goals and also together, although we can make some practical projects. Check and reply.

Why Free Software is Better than Open Source

The basic difference between the two movements of their values and the way they look at the world. For the open source movement, should open-source software, this argument is a real problem is not a moral issue. As one person said, is a development methodology of open source and free software is a social movement. For the open source movement are not satisfied with non-free software is a solution. For the free software movement non-free software is a social problem and free software is the solution.

In the free software license, the licensee will be allowed in this permit license the source code and implementation of the code (or run code and binary code) version of a modified version of or deduction, in the re-issue a license in other ways when the re - distribution. In other words, free software in the dissemination process, allowing the licensee to modify, but after the release of software should be modified, or free software, but are not allowed from this evolved into a non-free software; that the changes after the date of issue, we must accept the free software to run rules (can not change the free software's license). Of course, if the licensee will be modified to retain them free software only their own use, rather than another distribution, then also be possible.

Why Free Software is Better than Open Source

GNU General Public License is a relatively typical of free software licenses. About 60 species of the existing free / open source software license, the use of GPL license accounted for 65.8%, that is, the use of GPL licensed software, free software is the mainstream in a free / open source software holds the majority. GPL licensing requirements, the use of GPL software may not be used in the modified re-issue of other permits. So free Software is Better than Open Source. All the best.

Why Free Software is Better than Open Source

In the free / open source software community, there is a people to be divided into radicals and moderates to say, some people attach importance to the spirit of philosophical stress free, open source culture and values, it was concerned about their material, pay attention to performance and effectiveness. I think the two should be unified, or, we are admitting the guiding ideology of the free / open-source development of the movement is important, but the free software and open source software, not division.
