If Aperture 3 work very slow on your computer then you have to use following steps to fix this problem.
    1. First close all other application, that are running with your Aperture 3.
    2. Do not use full screen mode.
    3. As per my information use optimal preview size and quality.

First choose all images in the library and then try to update preview. To do this go to option and then right click on it. When it starts updating, just pause this process. You can do this in the following ways.
First go to Window -> Now select show activity -> now choose appropriate process and close it.

I think you are getting this problem due to 64-bit version of Aperture 3. This is not the Apple's fault. They upgrade this version from 32-bit to 64-bit due to it's popularity. As per my information you have to use 32-bit plugins which are comes with Aperture 3. You have to force Aperture 3 to run in the 32-bit mode. You also have to upgrade those plugins.

You have to use following steps to fix this problem.
    1.First restart your Computer.
2.When boot up, hold the SHIFT key so that it can start up in the Safe Boot mode.
3.Hold down the SHIFT key until you get login screen and you will see "Safe Boot" in red letters.
4.After that restart your machine as normal.
