Sharing error on XP

I have a two computers, a laptop with Windows 7 and a desktop with Windows XP. On my desktop I have a bunch of movies stored on a drive and there are 3 sub-folders. When I try to take or watch the movies from the harddrive it says access is denied, but if I try to watch the movies that are in the sub-folders it works just fine. I have tried changing the security and permissions to the drive but it still doesn't work. Any reason why this is happening?

So basically, all files in E:\ = Access Denied, and all files in E:\Videos = Accessible.

I think that your system is infected by a virus or a malicious program which is restricting you to transfer the data from your laptop to the computer or vice versa. Hence what i would suggest is to scan your system using a good antivirus and then try to transfer the data again.hope this helps

I have AVG on there and there it just got a fresh format. I don't think it is a virus.
