Setup compatibility settings of Office 2007

I am using Microsoft Office 2007 right now. I have doubt here. Likewise If I open a old version of office document say for example Microsoft office 2003 on 2007 then to determine the compatibility issue what all changes are made by it. Does the same is applicable if we go reveres. I don't think so. But it is possible to open a word 2007 document in 2003 by saving it under compatibility option. And the setup compatibility settings of Office 2007.

Equations will be transformed to images. You will not be able to edit the equations until the document is converted to a new file format. If you save the document in Word 97-2003 format, equations will be transformed to images that you can't edit. However, if you later convert the document to Office Word 2007 file format, the equations will become text and you will be able to edit them.SmartArt graphics will be transformed into a single object that can't be edited in previous versions of Word. When you save a document that contains SmartArt graphics in Word 97-2003 format, they will be transformed to static images.
