    Install new fonts in LateX

    Hello,
I am under Ubuntu, I use tetex and Kile to create my LaTeX documents. I wonder how I could install the font Utopia which I believe is not in the basic version of tetex. Is it possible to install new fonts in LateX. If you have done it before then please post back with a solution.

    Hello,
I am somewhat in the same case. I use texmaker, and I wanted to use the font Lexia (suitable for dyslexics). I retrieve the files. I surfed a lot but not completely understood, apparently can not use the ttf files with latex? If someone can help me it would be nice. the software is very famous and very useful, so I think the font support should be there for it. I am hoping for an reply. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    For utopia-
Look for the package fourier. It seems that the install package texlive-fonts-extra. This fact, Fourier is properly installed, it can then read the document.
    For Install lexia-
You can see their official site for help. It is a good kind of support given by them. Otherwise you can not always pass through (pdf) latex xelatex but not that easily manages fonts.

    Hello,
I tried your idea, just as I texmaker several errors. If I understand correctly,
I can not force it to use xelatex, yet I made a quick compile with the instructions.
    latex-shell-escape-interaction = nonstopmode%. tex | xelatex-interaction = nonstopmode%. tex | evince%. pdf
And I get an error message
LaTeX Error: *** This package works with XeTeX ***
You are not using XeTeX, we are exiting cleanly!
Continuing lead to 'metrics unavailable' errors!

    Hi,
In your directory, you throw a command line and you see the output results
    xelatex somedco.tex
If your file is called somedoc.tex What does it give? that is what is the output of the file. In fact, you did install xelatex? Your error sounds that you compiled with latex and not xelatex. I do not know if it's a good idea at the moment to hack texmaker.

    Hey,
Thank you for everything, it works! I retired in the early compilation of texmaker
    The row latex
    latex-shell-escape-interaction = nonstopmode%. tex |
of strokes it uses tetex and everything seems to work. Thank you very much. If you have any other tips on this software please do post, so that i can increase the knowledge.
