Player / DVD recorder is no longer working

Hi experts
Despite my (few) technical knowledge, I confess that I am helpless before my current problem- my drive / DVD burner (GSA-H20N) does not read the DVD and not the more serious either. By cons, although it recognizes the CD and CD burning is efficient. I tried updating the firmware (GSA-H20N102), but without success- it did not improved (worse or anything either, that's something!).
Does anyone have an idea or heard of a similar problem?

It resembles the symptoms of a dirty lens. Cleaning can be done with a cotton swab slightly moistened with alcohol medical. This maneuver should be done with great gentleness and care. Otherwise pure exchange. Hope this helps you. If not then please post back your query.

Oh yeah? It is true that it is usually the first thing I do, but since the CDs are well known and can be burned, it had not seemed to have a relationship of cause and effect. I will try, anyway it costs nothing to try. Again thanks for your suggestion.

Although I suspected as much the result anyway, so I cleaned the lens without success, always the same symptoms. Being a naturally curious since I am a maintenance technician, and even though a DVD burner does not cost much more now, out of curiosity I still have to solve this mystery, why the CD and more DVDs?

The laser source must be different:

Wavelength Laser CD: 780 nm
Wavelength laser DVD: 650 nm

So no hope if I understand correctly, the wave generator frequency to DVD sucks then. I am surprised, because this unit is only 3 years and he had to burn only fifty good DVD and read much more.
