    MS Project - Updating tasks

If the start date for a task has passed but the task hasnt started, is there any way that project can be configured to automatically move the projected start date to the current date and then continue to update the projected start date on a daily basis?

Go for this step for updating a task propperly : First click on view then toolbar and then tracking after that go to tools then optiion and then calculation tab. Find calculation option for your project and move start of. Now click on the help button and select topic schedule adjustement for early and late task. Carefully read and understand the point. Finally go to Project then project information then status date. After that set the status date. Now click on task and click on the tracking toolbar button labeled Reschedule work. This is the way to updating task on daily basis.

For update task to schedule for a specific date, follow the steps : go to view menu and click on Grantt chart. If you want only to update specific tasks, holds CTRL key and click each of the task on the list but one thing remember you can select up to 10 tasks at once. If you want to update are listed consecutively then you can click the first task and click the last task to select series. If you want to update all tasks in the list , you don not need to select the tasks. Then go to tools menu on point to tracking and click on update project.

you can also create a task and import from other resources in ms project. Can you update me what version you have used in ms project because if using 2007 version or latest the procedure is very easy. You can also divide Duration = Work/assignment Units in project to calculate Fixed Units,Fixed Work and Fixed Duration.

Thanks for the suggestions. What I really want project to do every time a project is opened is to automatically reschedule those tasks that havent started but should have. I presume this would require some sort of link to the date held in Windows.
