    Firefox freezes in Fedora 11

    Hi everyone
I am having an issue with Firefox in Fedora 11. Firefox completely freezes Fedora 11. I think the Firefox 3.5 beat 4 version is unstable. Even the control + Alt combination does not work once Fedora is hanged. I do not have any option but to press the power button and reboot in the system. I have done all the updates removed all addons from Firefox, but it is still nor working. This is the first time I am seeing a Linux machine completely locked up, even the caps lock key does not work. Any advice or suggestion. Please help because I am used to Firefox now.

    Hi
I am going through the same problem. Firefox hangs the whole system except the mouse moment. So no other choice but to shut it down by pressing the restart button. When I restart my system and try to run Firefox, it hangs before it has a chance to open. the only thing I could do was to uninstall Firefox and then reinstall it. I have search for the problems solution on the internet and the best answer I got was to install Firefox v3.0.11. This is the first time I am experiencing a problem with Firefox. I do not know if the kernel is related to this issue. But still I have mentioned my kernel version below.
    Kernel 2.6.29.6-213.fc11.i686.PAE

I did have the same problem. But the problem is solved for me now. I think both of you should try this.
    Code:
    su
    yum update --enablerepo=rpm*g --enablerepo=u*g --skip-broken -v
    reboot
I hope this will work, if not post back the problem again.

I had the same problem and after finding around in Fedora's forums I managed to find a workaround that solved the problem:
    Code:
Add "nomodeset" to the line of the active kernel in /boot/grub/grub.conf.
    For example:
    Change:
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.30.5-43.fc11.i686.PAE ro root=UUID=7c4a60f3-b89b-4ca8-a048-41f8779c75a8 rhgb quiet
    To:
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.30.5-43.fc11.i686.PAE ro root=UUID=7c4a60f3-b89b-4ca8-a048-41f8779c75a8 rhgb quiet nomodeset
This has solved my problem, hope this will work with you. Any query then do post back.
