    Receiving duplicate e-mail messages in Entourage

    Hi,

    I have Office 2004 and whenever I open Entourage 2004 I get duplicate copies of all my emails. A few times a week, I get old emails in my InBox. What do I need to do to stop this?

    When a POP3 mail account is set up to leave all mail on the server, there is some sort of synchronization mechanism between Entourage and so that the server knows if a particularly Entourage mail message has already been downloaded and needs not to be downloaded again at next connection. When this synchronization is broken, Entourage will download mails on the server all over again as if they are all new. I believe this happens only to POP3 mail accounts. IMAP and Exchange mail accounts are not affected.

    Try to Rebuild Your Database, if your having such type of problems. To do this, Hold down the Option key and re-launch the application. In a few seconds, you'll be greeted with the Entourage Database Utility. Select to rebuild. Some of your data might be lost if you choose the Advanced Rebuild option. You should use this option only if you have already performed a typical rebuild and continue to experience problems starting Entourage or storing data.

    To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
    1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts. View each account, and note the Account ID and the Account Name for each account in the list.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Run Schedule, and then select Edit Schedules.
    3. Double-click to edit the Send and Receive All schedule.
    4. Move to the Actions set, and remove all except one of the Receive Mail actions that refer to the each Account ID, and then close that window.
    5. Move to your Inbox, and then delete all duplicate messages.
    6. On the Tools menu, click Send & Receive, and then click Send & Receive All
