this function may be related to a defragmentation of certain areas of your computer. you can activate it from this Path Cleaner - Windows tab - Advanced - Cleaning free space. So in the properties presented here you will be able to identify locations to clean. Simply check the box or boxes that you want.

When you empty your Recycle Bin, the files are no longer present visually in your browser, but traces can be read by software to recover files. These trace files are located in the empty space on your disk and you can clean this space to make these tracks unrecoverable. For this, we can use

    CCleaner, follow these steps:
    1. Open CCleaner,
    2. Click Cleaner,
    3. In the Windows tab, look for the clean free space (located at the bottom)
    4. Once you have identified, select this option,
    5. Then click the Clear button.

When you use this option, the cleaning process is much longer, but this will make your deleted files unrecoverable (even with dedicated software).

Re: Ccleaner Clean Free Space option

CCleaner can't wipe every deleted file from your free disk space. There are some limitations, because of the way Windows stores some files. Here are some examples:
    1. The file is in the Master File Table (MFT). Windows stores some very small files (less than 1KB in size) directly in the MFT. They cannot be securely deleted. This is only an issue in NTFS-formatted drives.
    2. The file has been overwritten by another file (so no need to overwrite this again)
    3. The file had been overwritten by another file before you ran CCleaner, but the second file has now been deleted as well.
    4. The file was created almost exactly when you ran CCleaner.
