Hi all,
Preface:
I had issues with Toshiba Satellite so as it was under warranty I sent it off to Tosh. They ended up replacing the HDD and sent the "damaged" HDD back with my the repaired/reformatted notebook.
Situation:
I can still access files on the old HDD, I need to find a way to get my notebook to open the old FDP file but it wont. I know the override password to get through the encryption, I just need to interface/ability to do so. Therein lies the problem.
Failed Resolution Attempts:(Dont laugh, Im a bit of a back end software novice):
- Dropped the old MySafe.FDP file into the respective directory in the Documents and Settings on C:\ to overwrite the new (and empty) FDP file - it returned a write protect error as the existing FDP file was apparently "in use"
- Opened Protector Suite first and tried to search and open a different FDP file - it didnt give me the option
- Attempted to 'open with' the old FDP file using the Protector Suite Application file - This just did nothing, no response, no error message, no nothing.
If anyone could help me out with this I would be very grateful.
(Suffice to say, I've learnt my lesson and dont use MySafe anymore...too much of a hassle if the PC fry's......which as we know aint rare!)
Cheers
