sad HELP! Windows.old folder has 69 files but I can not see any???

My partner was working on his computer when he was prompted to insert windows cd and restart his computer. Accidentally he repartitioned his pc. Some of the data he had on his pc still there but a very important folder that he had on the desktop. After reviewing couple of articles, there is a folder windows.old that is created after a new installation. When I check the properties of the folder it says 89 files 2 directories [.] and [..], but I can not see any.

Anybody has an idea of how can I access/view the files in this directory??? And if there is a chance to have documents on the desktop still there???

    Thanks,

    Camile

Step 1: Determine whether there is a Windows.OLD folder and whether there is sufficient free space on the Windows hard disk

Click Start, and then click Computer.
On the View menu, click Details.
In the Free Space column, note how much space is available for Local Disk (C under the Hard Disk Drives area.
In the Hard Disk Drives area, double-click Local Disk (C, and then determine whether the Windows.OLD folder exists.

In my opinion the easiest way to have a look into the disk is using a file recovery program. Take your hard disk out of your cabinet. Connect it as slave to your friends computer. Now install a good Files recovery program. There are many programs available on the internet you just have to download them & install & run. Most of the products are paid but they also provide a demo version which is more than enough to get your work done.
I would suggest you to try "staller phonix"
