Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) is a technology that allows embedding and linking to documents and other objects developed by Microsoft. For developers, it brought OLE Control eXtension (OCX), a way to develop and use custom user interface elements. On a technical level, an OLE object is any object that implements the IOleObject interface, possibly along with a wide range of other interfaces, depending on the object's needs.

Objects OLE and the containers are applied in the part superior of the Model of component objects, are objects that can implement interfaces for the export of their functions. Only the IOleObject interface is obligatory, but it can have other interfaces that will be applied and if the functions exported by the necessary interfaces.
