How do I get rid of SQMDATA? I'm having the number of files with this type, and they taking too much har disk space, how can stop them, is there any way to disable them> is it happening because of trojan or some virus issue? Please help me as soon as possible. Thanking you.

I think they created because of the Windows live messenger, stop windows live messenger they won't get create anymore. They can be safely deleted.

As per Microsoft SQM files description: "These files are typically hidden and written to the root directory of the drive. Some other Microsoft products may drop these files as well. Reportedly you can turn the writing of sqmdata.sqm and sqmnoopt.sqm files off by going to Help, Customer Experience Improvement Program in Messenger and then turning them off from there."

It seems that if you have installed the Windows Live Messenger . To disable this files from being created , follow the following steps:
- Go to Help -> Help Improve Windows Live (Hold Alt if you don’t see the tool bar option)
- Click and Choose do not participate
- You have disable them.
