Ms Office 2003 and 2007 on same computer

    Hello all techarena members

I really like to upgrade from Office 2003, I've decided to try out Office 2007 on the same computer that is running Office 2003. I saw some articles indicating there might be some problems running two versions of Word on the same computer It showed a registry hack, but then said it might cause problems. So am scared in this point. So does it harm my computer or what??

    any thoughts and brilliant ideas??

I know that or earlier versions of Office products, MSFT initiated a number of KB articles that explains the issue of having more than 1 version of Office in OS, and they did list some significant potential issues. Some of the articles were KB 292491, 218081, 828956 and 290576.In any case, you would really have to uninstall 2007 before installing 2003.

I should tell you use the latest version of office 2007,since you can receive patches and updates for office 2007 easily as that of 2003. Its an old version and therefore has got limited support / patch upgrade etc. I find office 2007 very good coz it has lots of features than the old 2003 however it is still compatible with older office 2003 documents. But if you need you can have both 2003 and 2007 installed at the same time. The only issue is that you can only have one version of Outlook installed. Make sure that youchange the default installation location so that nothing is overwritten.
