Microsoft office install odbc error

Hello all,
I have some documents which i cannot open without Microsoft office 2000. I tried to install Microsoft office 2000 on my windows XP machine. But i cannot install it and getting odbc error verify database exists. Can someone help to sort out this?

This problem occurs if the Windows Registry is missing some registry keys. Check this Microsoft KB article on "Error 1919. Error configuring ODBC data source" error messages when you run the Setup program for Office adn this thread on How to install Microsoft Office 2000

Use following steps before installing it:

• Click Start
• Then click Run
• Type msconfig in the box
• Press Enter
• Select "Normal Startup - load all devices drivers and services.
• Click Apply and OK

Clear all the office componaants from windows Add/Remove programs from control panel. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove program -> Windows - > Remove Microsoft Office. This issue may occur if the following ODBC registry keys are missing:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC

Try repair option rom installation disk or from Microsoft downloads.
