Microsoft Office 2007 has locked out

    hi everyone,

I have installed Microsoft Office 2007 in my Windows XP. Yesterday when I tried to open one of the office applications, MS Office locked out for me. I couldn't open or edit any document in any of the office 2007 applications such as Word, Excel, etc.....I got the following error message - "This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked".

can anybody please help me how to troubleshoot this....
    thnx

I think you might have installed a trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 that you are not aware of, and now the trial period have been expired. OR
Probably you have not activated your Office software.

    Try doing this --

Open Microsoft Word 2007 and click on Office Button >> Word Options >> Resources >> Activate

    • If you are already activated, a dialog box with the same information will be appeared.
    • If you are not activated, the Activation Wizard will start.
    • If you have an expired trial version, a dialog box will prompt you to enter a valid product key or convert (purchase a key) online.

Alright, please mention whether Office 2007 was preinstalled on your PC, or have you purchased Office 2007 separately ?

If it was preinstalled on your PC, then probably your "original code" is a free trial version product key, which works only for a limited time. As you may be aware that one cannot use the free trial version indefinitely, so you need to fix it by taking the following easy steps-
    - visit your online retailer,
    - purchase Office 2007,
    - uninstall the free trial version from your computer,
    - install new and purchased version using the DVD and product key that come in the Office 2007 retail box.
