sad Outlook express Frozen. Huge email

One of my family decided to email our holiday photos to a friend. Unfortunately she tried to send 60 photos - attached individually - not a folder or zip - with the email. This has frozen outlook express. Will not send - always times out. I have reset time out to maximum - but still no good.
Main problem is that I cannot even delete from outbox. I cannot highlight the message, it says no message chosen. I want to delete the complete message. She can then start again... sensibly. There is very little email saved to her account. But she does have a lot of addresses that she wishes to retain. This is driving me mad. Please help.

    I appreciate it

I suggest you install and or update your Antivirus product & then scan your system with it for at least 3-4 times.
Also have a spyware & malware product to scan your system to detect if your machine is been affected by any threat.
    Try:
    Backup & Restore:

    Also have a look at:

I can not delete any emails from Outlook express.

No ... that folder is locked and yes, recovery of the attachments is possible but likely to cost $45 for the application.

Under xp > windows explorer > tools > folder options > view

Uncheck > Show hidden files and folders

    Now go to >

    C:\Documents and Settings\Account Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{000000-0000-0000-0000-0000000000}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

    Say goodbye to > Outbox.dbx

Next time you open outlook it will regenerate a new outbox.dbx

I opened up outlook express. Set preferences to NOT have preview pane, that way it didn't try and open it. Was able then to delete the email.
    JOB DONE.
