    Re: Ie8 compatibility mode

IE 8 uses standards compliant mode By default for all websites , but when users that don't render properly, user can switch in and out of compatibility mode which have issues with websites that website opens in IE 7 mode so easier to deal with websites that have issues with IE 8 But its going to be problematic to change the compatibility settings for each website so its better to disable it.

    Introducing Compatibility View

the main points to know are
    • Sites on the public internet still display in IE8 Standards Mode by default.
    • Switching in and out of Compatibility View (between IE7 and IE8 modes) happens on the fly without a browser restart.
    • Compatibility View is domain specific.

    Re: Ie8 compatibility mode

During the development of IE8, the developers announced that they had let the rendering engine of IE7 for reasons of recompatible. It was announced that a site will be displayed with the default rendering engine for IE8 (normal) but it was still possible for a webmaster to force the use IE7 engine by placing a specific meta tag in the header its page. Either. We have not placed this tag, we prefer to be displayed with an engine most respectful possible standards. So why overblog displayed there in IE 7 mode? Microsoft has published a blacklist of sites they have qualified arbitrarily incompatible with IE8 and they forced the rendering engine with the 7.

Windows Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List

Windows Internet Explorer 8 is Microsoft's latest web browser. Unlike previous versions, Internet Explorer 8 renders content in the most standards-compliant way possible. This means that web pages will be displayed in Internet Explorer 8's standards mode by default. Through product feedback channels, our users have indicated that, during the beta period, some websites may not have been compatible with Internet Explorer 8 in its default, standards-based mode. As a result, these domains have been added to a list of sites that, for the short-term, are most likely to be better displayed in Compatibility View. All Internet Explorer 8 users are given the choice to use this list, and the subset that chooses to do so will see each listed domain automatically displayed in Compatibility View, without additional user interaction or notice. The sites on this list have high traffic volume (in their regions), and having a compatible website ensures a significant number of Internet Explorer 8 users will have a great experience. This list will be periodically updated and downloaded automatically to Internet Explorer 8 users who have opted-in to use Compatibility View updates from Microsoft. Re: Ie8 compatibility mode

It's best to leave Compatibility View on or turn it off on a case-by-case basis. By default when you open the browser Compatibility View is turned off. Leave it as such, and when you come across a web page that displays incorrectly, turn it on. If you want Compatibility View to always turn on by default whenever you visit a certain site, click "Tools" and then scroll down to "Compatibility View Settings" and enter in the domain you wish to consistently view in this mode.
