Minimize Outlook Express to System Tray

    Hi,
I am using Microsoft outlook as a default mail client. Here the problem is that I want outlook express always on and minimized to system tray. Also the system tray icon denotes a message whenever new mails are received. When I minimize the the software a system tray icon does not appear. How to restore it back. Thanks in advance.

By editing windows registry the system tray icon will be restored. Go to Start Menu > Run > and type Regedit. Then navigate to the following path - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Preferences. Then look for value name MinToTray. Right click on that and select modify. Then set the value 1. Exit the registry editor and restart your windows.

The system tray icon would be set to hide in the system tray properties. You can restore it back again. Right click on the taskbar and select properties. Then at the below under notification area click on Customize. Then look for the outlook icon click on it and select always show. Launch your outlook. Then as soon as the application is started a small icon at system tray.

Normally the system tray icon appeared by default whenever you launch the application. This service works properly in Microsoft Office 2007. Check the task bar properties that it is enable. Click on the small arrow near the clock and see weather the icon is available. Normally this feature is not supported in older version of windows.

To minimize Outlook to a stylish icon in the Windows system tray:

Click on the Outlook icon in the system tray with the right mouse button.
Select Hide When Minimized from the menu.

Now, when you minimize Outlook is should disappear from the task bar. To open Outlook again, double-click on the Outlook system tray icon.

If you use Outlook 2000 or an earlier version, which do not include the functionality to minimize to the system tray, try OutTray or HideOutlook.
