How to remove bloatware on HP laptop

I have bought a new HP Pavilion which is running Windows XP with Service Pack 3. It came up preloaded with bloatware software. I have removed many softwares, and done enough uninstallations and I am tired now. I also noticed that there were some icon on the desktop which I wanted to delete but on deleting it, I get a message saying that deleting the shortcut will not remove the program and I need to remove using Add/Remove. So I went into Add and Remove Programs but I wasnt able to find any of that programs. So I wanted to know if deleting the icons manually will not create a problem in future. Therefore can anyone please tell me how to remove bloatware on HP laptop ? Thank you

Re: How to remove bloatware on HP laptop

Bloatware is typical the 15 pieces of trial software that expires. My new HP laptop from last month had so little that I'll call it at one item of bloat.

Sadly I think the advertisers and soothsayers have mislead too many on this item. You can also manually review installed s/w at the control panel under the add/remove feature of s/w. Be sure what you delete is not of use to you. Also, before doing you may want to do a "backup" to get as the day you brought in case you get too carried away. -OR- after the pgms. are removed, do the backup, but do so if confident of th delete process.
