To take a snapshot of the video displayed by VLC, you just need to press the pre-defined snapshot hotkey:

    • Windows / Linux / Unix: Ctrl-Alt-s
    • Mac OS X: Command-Alt-s

To change it, go to Preferences -> Interface -> Hotkeys settings, check Advanced options, and set Take video snapshot.

There are multiple options are available for this:

Capture Screenshot From A Running Video
    Capturing Images From Wmv Video

    Hope this helps.

Turn off hardware acceleration in the program, prnt screen, paste in mspaint, turn on hardware acceleration.

    In Windows Media Player:

    • In Media Player 7 or later, select Tools > Options > Performance tab. In Media Player v.6.4 and earlier, select View > Options > Playback.
    • Click and drag the Hardware Acceleration slider to the left, changing the setting from Full to None.

    In RealOne Player:

    • Select Tools > Preferences > Hardware in the navigation pane
    • Click and drag the Playback Performance slider to the left, changing the setting from Best quality to Lowest CPU usage.

    In WinAmp
