It works with me too . Thanks a lot for your time and support to post the solution. Keep posting
How do you uninstall KB2412171 in Windows XP Professional. I got the problem with Archive in outlook too.
Ok, uninstalling update KB2412171 worked for me. Outlook is working again.
thanks.
Thank you very much for the information, I was wondering why my email was so slow, and then the archive function was gone, uninstalled and everything works back to normal!
Great advice!! KB 2412171 also slowed Outlook 2007 down. Fine now
Thank all mates. I removed KB2412171 and Archive feature appears again.
Here is something I noticed after removing KB2412171 (Outlook 2007). A reply to one of my e-mails was missing when I opened the e-mail. The original was there but not the senders reply. When I look at the e-mail in Preview view I can see part of their reply but when I open the e-mail it is missing. When I open the e-mail with my IPad it is complete. The reply was sent from a Blackberry. Any thoughts?
Thank you for this tip. Worked immediately without any negative impact on Outlook performance.
Microsoft has a bug in its UpDate KB 2412171 that turns off the autoarchive function.
Go to Control Panel and then Add and Remove Programs and Windows Components.
Click show Updates and search for the KB 2412171 UpDate - then click remove.
Afterwards you must reboot the PC and start Outlook.
I can't seem to see 2412171 but am having the exact same issue. Archive "disappeared" and can't do it manually or through auto archive. How do I find the update 2412171 if it doesn't show up in my control panel? Thanks
If you are unable to see the update then it might be possible that the update is hidden and you need to make it visible. You have to click on Show Update on the Add/Remove Program which will display the update. Now Scroll down and see whether the update is visible or not. It will shown in [] bracket. So if you can then go through the same and see whether this is working for you or not.
I just want to add my voice to the chorus of thanks for the directions on removing the KB2412171 update. Wow. I've been suffering for days and trying to find the AutoArchive button using the (worthless) instructions on the official Outlook website. I just did it and everything is working perfectly again--maybe faster than ever. No more taking a walk around the office waiting while I switch email boxes. THANK YOU!
