Not sure how many pure Windows users are running MobileMe. For those who run Mac OS X, especially multiple Mac OS X machines, the computer sync, Back to my Mac, and other functions make it a far, far better value for the money than a strict Windows environment. However, if you run both platforms, or even if you just love your MobileMe on Windows, Apple has given you a little bit of love today as well.Between updates to its iTunes digital media playing application, as well as updates to QuickTime and GarageBand, Apple has again posted the MobileMe Control Panel 1.3 update for Windows PC owners using the company's online service and application.
The MobileMe Control Panel for Windows is now available as a separate download from the MobileMe PC Setup page or your account page on me.com.It enables MobileMe sync in addition to providing easy access to your web iDisk and Account settings on a PC.According to the company, this update delivers faster syncing of contacts and calendars between MobileMe and Microsoft Outlook. Contacts and calendars will also automatically sync whenever a change is made in Outlook, and likewise when a change is made on the web or from another device. Mobileme for windows automatically pushes new email, contacts and calendar events to your Mac, PC, iPhone and iPod touch, so that your information stays up to date across all your devices.
It also also offers web applications at me.com, a MobileMe Gallery for photo sharing, MobileMe iDisk for online document access and 20GB of online storage, for a monthly fee.If you already have the MobileMe Control Panel for Windows installed, upgrading to the latest version of iTunes will automatically update the control panel as well. But If the control panel is not already there, iTunes will not automatically install it. Also, the control panel will appear as an optional download whenever you run Apple Software Update on Windows.
