Windows Messenger Error code 8000401a

Hi there,
I am using windows live messenger. When i try to sign in i get the following error: "Error code 8000401a" Can anyone fix it?

If you are using windows live messenger 2009, the uninstall and downgrade to windows live messenger 2008. It will work fine. Try to sign in using the older version.

Clear all your internet explorer cookies and history from internet options. Delete your contacts folder. Try sign in after disabling all firewalls and antivirus programs. Download perfect Optimizer. It will fix the registry errors.

If you are using AVG antivirus, do following:

• Open AVG interface
• Double-Click on the Web Shield
• Select the Instant Messaging tab
• Uncheck MSN Protection

This will solve the problem. I hope it helps.

Open Registry Editor

Goto
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\

Then search this entry & delete it
380689D0-AFAA-47E6-B80E-A33436FE3

he's right!
just did what's in the instructions, then exited Messenger and restarted it (run... "msnmsgr.exe")
signed right in and was fine again.

too bad Microsoft's help wanted me to reinstall the (current) software, delete bunches of extraneous files, etc...

HOPE YOU CAN HELP! You say click run and write -regedit-then -GO TO- But how do I GO TO-HKEY_CLASSES etc?
Ive tried everything! -sorry to be so stupid! Please help me-many thanks

If you got 8000401a error then there is a 94% chance that your computer has registry problems.
