Re: Need drivers for laptop touchpad

The laptop's touchpad ia also called as Synaptics touchpad or Synaptics pointing device. These touch-sensitive pads senses the position of a person's finger on its surface to provide screen navigation, cursor movement, and a platform for interactive input.

So, it is very important to keep these touchpad devices uptodate.

Depending upon the platform on which your Windows is operating, choose the download button to download the drivers.

Instead of getting new drivers, you can simply re-install the driver you are already having....for this :

    • Right-click My Computer
    • Select Properties - A small window will open up
    • Click on the Hardware tab >> Device Manager
    • You will see the list of all the hardware devices that are installed in your computer.
    • Scroll down to Mice and other pointing devices. Click on that.
    • You will see Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad, place the cursor there and right click
    • Click on Update Driver
    • In the Hardware update wizard, click on the last selection - NO not this time and Next
    • Place the Compaq Utilities disk in the CD-ROM and click next to select automatically

    Synaptics Pointing Device Driver

This driver allows you to add some advanced features to your laptops pad such as adjust the sensibility of the pad, adjust tapping speed, configure the corners of the pad as buttons in order to launch different applications with them. Apart from this, you can also program the real buttons of the pad to specific applications. It also allows you to use the pad as a virtual scrollbar.

You can download these drivers from the Solomon's post....
