    Bootvis for Windows Vista

    Hello,

Having slow start Vista, I wanted to analyze what is happening.
Having searched a little on the web I found BootVis, software that analyzes the activity at the start and allows you optimize it.

However, it is compatible anonce XP and not Vista. Anyway, a number of software are not compatible and walk anyway.

So I BootVis and when I want to start the following error message appears: "The procedure entry point WmiOpenTraceWithCursor is found in the dynamic link library advapi32.dll".

    Can it work with Vista?

Do you know another software tool like Vista compatible?

    Thank you in advance.

You answer your own part to your questions.

BootVis is not advertised as Vista compatible. Being a fairly close to the low level functionality of the system (like the Disk Defragmenter, software partitioning or other antivirus and firewall), it is normal it is not compatible. This type of tool can even be dangerous if it changes a little the system. On the other hand, BootVis is a Microsoft software, do not you think it would have been clearly advertised as Vista compatible if it did?

I will confirm that BootVis does not work under Windows Vista and is not capable of handling make it compatible. There is to my knowledge, no equivalent of BootVis on Vista and I do not think that Microsoft plans to develop one as part of optimization BootVis is already integrated into Vista and it runs automatically at startup.

As for your problem because you've already explained here, I think that is not the boot itself, but with the outbreak of the search for updates available through Windows Update. Therefore trying to just turn off the search for updates by going to Windows Update, then select Edit Settings in the left pane, and select the option Do not search for updates (not recommended). To update your system, you need just from time to time to search for updates manually in Windows Update. But at least it is you who choose the time of this audit.

It is a known problem that often paralyzes the machine for 1 to 5 minutes to connect to the profile of the user. It should be resolved with Service Pack 1.

    Hi,

If your pc is slow try the following things :

    • Update third party drivers.
    • Check you have sufficient RAM so that the system does not need to
    • resort to using the pagefile.
    • Run Disk CleanUp and Disk Defragmenter.
    • Remove malware / parasites.

    Re: Bootvis for Windows Vista

Thank you for BootVis to confirm, can you tell me if it would result in Vista, a way of knowing what files and what time they will start loading Windows?

In fact when it comes time to load Windows, it does not come from Windows Update as of any time to pause before connecting to the Internet, and what I have read on the Internet by step lot of research time, it could be my antivirus, Kaspersky namely v7.0.

Do you know something about it? I did not dare to uninstall it and I really did not want more.

    Thank you for your help
