Hello,
I noticed that when my PC is infected by viruses, there are always autorun.inf files. Is it possible to prevent this file to run? how?
The Autorun.inf file has nothing to do with a virus. This file is present on most CD and DVD. It serves to give some information about the device as the name and icon to be displayed in Explorer, plus other options.
It is also used to indicate which program to launch automatically when the CD is inserted, such as an installation wizard for the installation CD software.
This can be disabled but I can not find the procedure
Hi,
To disable autorun you can do right click on the device or you wish to disable autorun, autorun tab, you check "Always do this operation" and you choose to do nothing in the list.
Maybe there are more simple but I know that .
Refer to this threads: How to disable the CD-ROM autorun function in Windows XP?

Start> Run> gpedit.msc> Administrative Templates> System: Disable automatic drive (a window opens, select all drives and check on)
Disable autorun on USB flash drives are an ideal way to combat the virus infection by this means. Indeed, there are worms which change daily signature no longer possible to detect the virus.
Actually there are more simple, but available 'on XP Pro as it passes through a GPO; This trick is for the "Flash disk", but also applies to removable media in general.
