How to check if a CD/DVD is bootable or not?

    Hey Guys!
I have a couple of Linux CD and Windows 7 Beta DVD. But i'm not sure if those are bootable or not as those i brought from my friend... How do i check if the CD/DVD is bootable or not? Is there any windows tool to verify it? Is there any software that can determine the bootable CD/DVD? Help guys!

    Hey!
The best and free way to identify the CD/DVD is bootable or not is :
    • Change the first boot device to CD/DVD rom in BIOS
    • Insert CD/DVD in the rom and boot
    • If the computer boots from CD/DVD , you have a bootable CD/DVD

But its a hectic and long procedure...! All the best..!

    Hey!
Thanks, but everytime trying to boot from CD/DVD is too tiresome...! Is there any shorter and quicker way to determine the same? Also I will have to unplug my hard disk so that it doesn't boot from the hard disk if CD/DVD is not bootable...! Too lengthy process...!

    Hey!
You can use third part softwares like MagicISO and UltraISO. Those are proprietary softwares so you can download only a trial version of the same from the internet...! But as you just wan't to check if your CD/DVD is bootable or not, that will work for you...! Just Run the software and insert the CD/DVD in the rom. After the OS reads the disc, the software will indicate whether it is bootable or not. You can easily find that option. It is displayed on the left of the last toolbar in red colour...! All the best...!

In addition to it .. let me add another improved way:
    To check Bootable CD/DVD:
    Download and install gBurner
    1. Insert the CD/DVD in CD-ROM/DVD-ROM. 2. Open gBurner.
    3. File --> Import Data CD/DVD --> on import track chose the media and click import ----> gBurner will show bootable/non-bootable in it's toolbar at the bottom.

To check bootable image: File --- Open---Browse and chose the image file ---gBurner will show bootable/non-bootable in toolbar at the bottom.
