ZoneAlarm warns me that "Windows CardSpace is trying to connect to the Internet or your local network", what is it that this program and what is it? plese help what Should i Do To remove these message or these program if i dont need it otherwise thank you in Advance for your replies

Whether on the Internet or an intranet, a user must authenticate, ie present his identity, to access data. Most of the time a user name and password are sufficient, but a person owns more often. In other words, one person has multiple digital identities, and these do not contain all the same type of information. This can be text, image or sound. When a user accesses an application or an area from a Web browser, it is obliged to present a valid digital ID that contains private data. In most cases, this identity is represented by a security token that can be in different formats and can be encrypted or not. After the failure of Passport that Microsoft has acknowledged that centralizing all key information of users was not necessarily the best thing to do, the publisher now offers the user to store their various identities in a secure portion of its system . In collaboration with other companies, Microsoft has defined a meta-identity system (a system of identity systems) which allows a user to use different identities. CardSpace is related to several other Microsoft technologies including WCF, Active Directory and Windows Live ID. As CardSpace relies on standards WS-Security and WS-Trust, it uses WCF for communication. In addition, Active Directory and Windows Live ID, the authentication system of the editor, formerly Passport, will be modified to act as a provider of identity. Finally, Internet Explorer 7 will let users use CardSpace to manage their digital identities.

Hello , Windows CardSpace (codenamed InfoCard), is a system of identity management for single sign put up by Microsoft for its Windows Vista operating system. The data are stored locally (password manager Windows Live ID) or on a server (or directory server compatible WS-Federation). CardSpace has access to such data (professional, personal, administrative, address) by a pin and in a secure mode to counter the Trojan or keylogger. CardSpace is based on XML file exchange protocol and a compatible Web Service security (WS-Security, WS-Trust, WS-MetadataExchange and WS-SecurityPolicy).If Windows Cardspace is not listed in the Add/Remove Programs, it may very well be uninstallable. The option to remove or uninstall Windows Cardspace is not even mentioned in its FAQ.

Since CardSpace is tightly integrated with .NET Framework 3.0 and/or 3.5, the only way to remove CardSpace is to uninstall the .NET Framework. I would however suggest just disabling the service. Start > Run > services.msc > Windows CardSpace > Properties > Startup type: Disabled or Better Allow it Access to internet through zone alarm it will solve your problem

Below is a response, which I have been unable to postto the social.microsoft. ... webpage on Windows CardSpace has encountered a problem ... . I seem to have lost the particular webpage, even though I had bookmarked it in Firefox 3.5.2.

The same CardSpace error recurrs almost every five minutes or so. I am having several collateral failures on MS Outlook Received and Sent messages, and with garbled IE8 and Firefox 3.5.2 webpages. I tried your solution (use services.msc to select the Windows CardSpace service), but the Microsoft CardSpace service was already stopped; hence, the only option was to "Start" the service - which I dared not do! I also have a Lexmark x5410 printer problem in that any attempt to print results in a recurring "cannot communicate with the printer" error. I have checked everything, including installing the printer on my desktop system, where it works properly.
Any other possibilities?

O have attached an MS Word document which summarizes my approach to the problem. Does anyone have any potential resolution to this massive problem?

Hi again: This is a quick follow-on to my last post. I took one recommended action, to disable Windows CardSpace startup using services.msc. Regrettably this did not resolve the issue!
Using services.msc to disable the Windows CardSpace on startup did NOT resolve the problem.
The first email received via MS Outlook 2003, following a reboot, was mangled so badly that only about twenty characters were visible, with no From, To, or Subject fields visible!
What else can be tried to resolve this problem, which may not be the root cause for my Ouitlook, IE8, and Firefox problems, but clearly requires a resolution? I will have to think more about how to best describe my problem(s) with MS Outlook 2003, IE8, and Firefox. Thanks, in advance, for any assistance. Arbyem

Following installing the latest 16 updates from Microsoft, I keep getting some mangled IE8 and firefox 3.5.2 webpages. However, I have received only one mangled email. /obviously, some problem(s) remain. Any advice/cousel? Thanks again. Arbyem

Hi again: This is a quick update on my troubleshooting attempts. I disabled Windows CardSpace, but the problems still recur. Indeed, the Windows CardSpace failures persist (I had hoped that the latest rounf of some 14 Microsoft Updates might have resolved that problem.) I also reconfigured my home network temporarily, to direct connect my laptop to my Cogeco cable modem (the laptop had been on a Cisco-Linksys WRT160Nv2 wireless router, with my desktop connected to the cable modem). Regrettably, the problems with email corruption continue. Also, IE8, and Firefox 3.5.2 exhibit some "page not displayed" / "Network Timeout" errrors respectively.
I have yet to accomplish a cable modem test with the Cogeco tech staff, but I am trying to do so.
Any other suggestions for a resolution?

Hi again all: Here is an update on my situation. Given the many serious problems with my HP laptop (Vista Home Premium x64), I had to have Future Shop diagnose and repair the problems. These comprised, according to the Future Shop techie, over 12,000 errors/registry corruptions, which, he claimed was most likely caused by excessive numbers of downloads-installations and uninstall operations. Hence, my laptop was backed-up (some of the WD Anywhere back-ups had even been corrupted), the hard disk reformatted, and Vista Home Premium reinstalled. Of course, I had to complete the re-installation of all of my many application programs, including all-important anti-malware programs. However, I noted that the Future Shop techie had disabled my Windows CardSpace, given his knowledge of my problem with it, and the fact of others having reported the same problem.
Do I dare re-enable Windows CardSpace, or would I be risking the same problem (presumably given that Microsoft has not yet provided a resolution vai a Windows Update)?

Basically, if CardSpace fails to write to the event log it treats it as a fatal error and crashes. CardSpace is listed as Windows CardSpace in services.msc and you should be able to find it alphabetically. The most common cause of this is a full log. Could you try increasing the maximum size of your event log or set ‘overwrite events as needed’?

Some identity problems are such as we are unable to know whether the authentic sites for us. Username and password authentication is definitely provide some or more security but not much as it requires. There are some password theft attacks which will remove this security. CardSpace is one of the solution to this. It provides to maintain a set of personal digital identities which can use by Information Cards. These cards are providing strong cryptography format. Window CardSpace is .NET Framework oriented, the ultimate solution to to this problem is to uninstall the this Framework.

You can try the below steps .
1. Select Start >
2. click on Run
3.Go to services.msc
4.Select Windows CardSpace
5.Select Properties
6.Finally disable the Startup type.

Hi again: Appreciating that the CardSpace program fulfills a useful purpose, I tried to re-start the Windows CardSpace from services.msc, having changed to start mode to "manual", and then selecting "start" the service in services.msc. however, I received a 1053 error message. What has to be done to re-start the service such that the event log parameter can be changed to "overwrite previous entries" when the event log becomes full, causing a failure of the service? Microsoft card space stored your personal information like ATM no, password and send it to the sites. Windows card space is a client side management tool that helps to manage your personal information. I think it wanted to send your information over the network. So please check your Microsoft card space tool otherwise it will send your information to other sites.

Hi again: I re-tried starting Windows CardSpace from services.msc, with the same result. The error 1053 was again displayed "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.". To add to my confusion, a second window displayed this error: "Windows CardSpace stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working properly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available."
Obviously, something is still amiss. But what, and what is the resolution? HELP please!
