how to rename files in "batch" in Mac

On Windows I was able to rename photos in groups. Example I select a dozen photo, I rename the first party. Windows renames all the other party (1) party (2) etc ...

    Possible with OSX?

    Thank you

I used some-times, and I loved. You just need a little time to get used to functions.

With a Google search is immediately and I think I've taken on: http://www.versiontracker.com

This program is shareware and will operate even if you do not send money to the author.
