play videos in wmv format in my outlook inbox

Hello,
I have a little concern for playing videos in wmv format in my inbox Outlook Express. In fact, my pc is willing to read (with VLC) only if I register on our desktop. Otherwise, I have a message like "no program associated to perform this action. Create an application using the Folder Options in Control Panel."
Can anyone help me please. Thank you

and if you put the Windows Media Player as default player, does it work?

How is that I have to do? Because, when I click to open the file, I get the message described above. If I right click, I can: open, save as, save all, print.
