idea How do i add more space to my Vista partition

    Hello Friends,

I'm having Windows Vista on my system. I would like to know that how do i add up more more space to my Vista partition. I'm running Windows Xp on my hdd as a dual boot system. I have more than 300 Gb free space left on my other partition. Can any body tell me that which program do people use more often for their Windows Vista in order to add more space? Does any one have any idea about it? Kindly suggest me your views.

    Thanks in advance.

The tool you need is inbuilt into Windows Vista. Just go to your Start-->Right Click on computer-->Manage-->disk management-->Right click the disk you want to make changes to. That's it!!

If you have Vista still there and want to expand that partition, it is very simple and should work for you.

    1. Right click "computer" and select "manage"
    2. Click Disk Management in left column (if Disk0 shows "unallocated space" this will work)
    3. Right click your main drive (usually c:\) the one you want to expand
    4. Select "Extend Volume"
    5. Wizard opens, click next
    6. Make sure it says the size of the unallocated space and click next
    7. Click finish and that's it!

Shrinking Windows Vista Partitions or partitioning:

This allows you to create a new partition or shrink any existing partition. Follow these steps.
Step 1: The options are available at ‘Disk Management’.

Start Menu -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Double Click Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management.

Step 2: Now, right click the partition you want to shrink and select the shrink option.

Step 3: In the pop-up box, Enter the amount you want to shrink the partition by (By default, the maximum is entered).

Step 4: Click Shrink and That’s it! Now you have a new partition to use. You can then right click the new partition and format it the way you want it.

You will get a new partition which is listed as unallocated. You can use that to create a new partition (right click and format) or use it to extend with already existing partition.
