Prevent conflicts when installing Programs ?

    hie....

When I install programs in my Windows 98, I face certain conflicting errors. How to prevent these conflicts when installing required applications windows 98 ?
Can anyone provide me necessary troubleshooting solution so that I can perform clean installation..?

    thanks in advance....

In order to minimize conflicts when installing:

Click Start ---- Click Run ---- Type in 'msconfig' ---- Click OK.
This will open System Configuration Utility.

Under General ---- Select Selective Startup.
Take the check mark out of 'Load Startup Group Items' ---- Click 'Apply'.
    Load your new program.

This should eliminate any possible conflicts.

Well, after performing the steps(already provided by someone above), you will usually be asked to restart your computer.
This will usually reset the 'Selective Startup' to the default settings, which are 'Normal Startup - load all device drivers and programs'.

If for some reason, after restarting, this does not appear to have happened, go to Start >> Run >> type 'msconfig' >> click 'OK' >> 'System Configuration Utility' will reopen >> Click 'Normal Startup' and things will then be back to normal.
