Can't open Rar and Zip files

Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help me please.

Last week end I reformat my computer and since I can not run an application of a zip or rar file and if trying to extract it the file disappears.

I use ALZip and winrar and with none of the two I can run my application. Someone know the solution?

Google "Tugzip"..its a freebie and does rar,zip and stacks of other formats.Unzip's anything.
