Windows 7: Adobe Reader 9 doesn't works with browsers

    Hi,
Using windows 7 beta , Here i was using Adobe reader 9 without any problem in Vista, but in windows 7 my browsers (opera and firefox) doesn't detect Adobe reader as a PDF plug-in. I don't know what to do now? should i try another version?
    Thanks for any help.

Re: Windows 7: Adobe Reader 9 doesn't works with browsers

I’ve had an issue where a IE8 link would not open and Adobe Reader would generate a blank warning window with just an OK to click. The IE8 page was blank. I corrected this by downgrading to 8.13.. So much for that…

Not really the answer you're looking for but foxit PDF reader works fine, I don't have any problem opening up PDF links I'm running Windows 7 (32-bit) . try Foxit reader

Here is the fixed for my computer. Hope this will help.

    • Open the Adobe Reader 9
    • Open the <Edit> menu and select <Preferences>
    • On the left window, Select <Internet> Categories
    • Make sure to UNCHECK the "Display PDF browser"
    • Ok then exit Adobe.

    It's work now.

I tried changing the preference and still have a blank adobe window with just the OK. I cannot open docs that just last week I had no problem with.

I was having the blank error message problem. I have Acrobat 9 Full version.

I thought I might fix it by installing Adobe Reader. It asked to restart pc to complete installation. I agreed.

Now my computer will not start again.

I have Startup Repair running, but it hasn't found anything yet and it's been 20 minutes or more.

    Please help.

    Hi friend,

I have have the same problem of 'Adobe reader 9' over the Mozilla Firefox. Then my friend told me to use the Internet explorer rather than Mozilla Firefox. I did the same thing and surprisingly I didn't experience the 'Adobe reader 9' over the Internet explorer.I think you should do try this trick and lets see if it is helpful for you or not

Thanks for the fix, I was getting very upset that my new laptop would not open adobe files consistently. It would sometimes work if I opened in a new window or tab but not everytime and it was a hassle to have to open them that way.

    Select> Windows Vista
    Continue...
    Select> Adobe Reader 8.2 > Download now
    It will work fine.

Neel's suggestion also solved the PDF display problem with the following combo:

    Firefox 3.5.11
    Windows 7
    Acrobat Pro 9

This had been a very annoying problem as the failure was intermittent and clearly NOT linked to the file itself. (Probably some state variable, I suppose.) Thank you SO much, Neel - you are a timesaver and a true friend.

I have found a fix to this annoying problem. And it must have something to do with Adobe Reader 9 not having enough time to load the PDF.

In Adobe Reader 9: Click Edit, Preferences..., Internet (In the sidebar), Uncheck Allow fast web view

I think this is much better than completely preventing it from displaying in the web browser.

I hope this fixes everyone's problems.
