Customize Outlook 2003 Data File Management prompt up window

    Hi

Anyone here know how to customize windows prompt up location when adding/creating new pst file from Data File Management options for Outlook 2003.

Eg: by default when we want to add new pst file from Data File Management options, outlook will locate C:\Documents and Settings\SITYKT\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\ to save the pst file. I was wondering can we set at the registry key to default locate specify path? No need to manual locate the which path we want to save the file.

By default, Outlook places each Offline Folders (.ost) file and Personal Folders (.pst) file that it creates in the %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder. This setting allows you to change the default behavior and store the files in any folder.

This tweak can be easily applied using WinGuides Tweak Manager.

    Download (trial version)

Open your registry and find the appropriate key below.

    Outlook 2003 - [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook]

Restart Outlook for the change to take effect.

    Note:
This is a expandable string value so you can use environment variables, such as %userprofile%, to specify the path. When the value does not exist the default value of "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook" is used.

    Registry Settings
    • User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook]
    • Value Name: ForcePSTPath
    • Data Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ (Expanded String Value)
    • Value Data: Full path to personal folder directory

Once I was in search for this when I had similar issues with the .pst files. Then I got this info from my technical advisor. So I remembered it from then and this was useful for many of my friends too. I am glad to have helped you
