Windows 7 Doesnot Allow Ventrilo

hi there

I am a bit confused regarding my query. What is Ventrilo?
can anyone explain me that Is Ventrilo Surround Sound Communication Software is unable to function under windows 7 operating system. Is it the problem in my operating system or else it do has it as a default.

Please help me regarding this.

Ventrilo 3.0.0 is the next evolutionary step of Voice over IP (VoIP) group communications software. Ventrilo is also the industry standard by which all others measure themselves as they attempt to imitate its features.

By offering surround sound positioning and special sound effects on a per user, per channel, per server or global configuration level the program provides each user the option to fully customize exactly how they wish to hear sounds from other users or events.

Ventrilo is best known for it's superior sound quality and minimal use of CPU resources so as not to interfere with day to day operations of the computer or during online game competitions. It is also preferred for the simple user interface that any first time computer user can very quickly learn because the most commonly used features are immediately visible and can be activated with a single click of the mouse.

Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Accessories.

Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. In the User Account Control window, verify that Program name is Windows Command Processor, and then click Yes.

In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type or paste the following text at the prompt:

reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions /va /f

Press Enter to install the solution.

If The operation completed successfully displays, close the Administrator: Command Prompt window to complete this procedure. If "ERROR: Access is denied" displays, repeat this procedure from the top, making sure you clicked Run as administrator in step two.

Follow these steps:

Install Wine. I used the RPM package for my distro because it makes life so much easier. Also wine takes about a month to compile. Actually it doesn’t, but its long enough to make a bag of popcorn and eat it in 30 minutes.
Download Ventrilo! Try… ventrilo.com maybe?! ‘Till the people of Ventrilo make a client for Linux so we don’t have to ghost it, your going to have to download the Ventrilo Client made for Windows.
If you have not installed any program or application under Wine before, edit the file: ~/.wine/system.reg
In that file, search for the word “Owner”.
You will see Registered Organization and Registered Owner. Edit the information between the “” marks. This will be default on your future and upcoming install.
Before: “RegisteredOwner”=”Change preferred owner in ~/.wine/system.reg”
After: “RegisteredOwner”=”YOUR NAME HERE”
Save the file!
Open a terminal and dynamically type: wine /path to installer/ventrilo x-x-xx.exe
Things will load in console, don’t panic. You will be prompted with a somewhat familiar installer GUI as if you were installing Ventrilo on Windows. Do not feel lost if the installer does not appear EXACTLY like Windows! So install the program.
Once installed, run wine with Ventrilo in a console with: wine ~/wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Ventrilo/ventrilo.exe

Microsoft already yanked the Windows 7 beta download. It's probably still way screwed up and not even ready for beta. The theory was that if it worked with Vista, it should have no problems working with Windows 7.

I think Microsoft is rushing things too much. They should take their time and work out the bugs and release a good OS.

When they rushed Exchange 2007, it still had a lot of bugs and the user interface wasn't even complete. SP1 fixed a lot of that and now it's a pretty stable product. I just hate the part where Microsoft recommends that you install Exchange on 5 different servers (each part of exchange goes on a different box). It's a good idea, but they make you pay extra money for licenses. That will be 5 exchange licenses and 5 windows 2003 or 2008 licenses.
