    angry Word is acting weird how do i restore it to normal?

    Im trying to update my CV using word and its not showing the text box i added (its shows up fine in print preview). It just says:

    {shape /*mergeformat}

    I tried to open some other documents and links etc have turned into similar gobbledy gook. How can i return the document editing screen to normal so that i can see my work as i go along.

    Id be grateful for any advice and if you need to know more info from me please please ask.

    Kind regards

    Hi,

    For Changing Ms-Word to Normal (Default) view :

    • Close all Word 97 files.
    • Choose File/Open.
    • Set 'Files of Type' to Document Templates.
    • Open your Normal.dot file (usually "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\Normal.dot" .
    • Choose View/Page Layout.
    • Choose File/Save and then choose File/Close.

    Thank you for you reply. But i am using word 2003. I also didnt find a way to follow your instructions, either they were not clear enough or not relevant to the version im using. I hope i can figure this out soon.......
