Hey follow the below steps mention.

    1) Use the System Configuration Utility to safely turn off programs that start-up through the Windows Registry. Access this utility by going to the Start Menu--> Then click on Run.

    2) Type msconfig and press Enter.

    3) Under the Startup tab there is a list of all the programs that start in the Windows Registry. By unchecking many of the programs you can speed up the launch time of Windows.

    4) It is recommended that you keep the lines that say ScanRegistry and SystemTray.

    5) If you are unsure about what other start-up programs you can disable them if you don't want on your pc.

Re: How do i remove start up programs

A number of methods can be prevent programs from running at startup. My recommendations are that you try to follow the below listed method.

    1) Using a program's own configuration options :- The best option is to check if a program gives you an option to disable the function you're interested in - via a right-click on a System Tray icon or maybe an "options" menu within the program. If this isn't available then you have to try something else.

For example, Norton SystemWorks has an "Options" tab on the main start-up screen that allows you to configure the utilities in the suite - Norton Utilities, Norton AntiVirus and Norton Cleansweep.

    2) Windows StartUp folder:- If you click on Start --> All Programs --> StartUp you may find programs loading from here via shortcuts. If this is the case, you have two options :-

Delete the shortcut from the StartUp directory.

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Create a temporary directory for your OS called "Disabled StartUp Programs" and move the shortcuts there. If a program doesn't work as expected you can always move the relevant shortcut back again.

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs

    3) System Configuration Utility (MSCONFIG):- Work your way through the list of programs included here and deselect the appropriate boxes in your version then click OK followed by re-starting Windows.

WinXP display items for the same program in different ways in MSCONFIG. WinXP often uses the first part of the filename under the "Startup Item" column and the equivalent descriptive part in the "Name" column of the registry "Run" keys. For instance, on my WinXP Home machine I have ZoneAlarm and see:

    MSCONFIG : "Startup Item" = zlclient & "Command" = zlclient.exe
    REGISTRY : "Name" = Zone Labs Client & "Data" = zlclient.exe
Virus entries in the program list are only shown using the registry version in this case to prevent unnecessary duplication due the number of them.

    Notes:

When you have deselected an item in MSCONFIG, you will be starting in "Selective startup" mode. This can be seen under the "General" tab. Working in "Selective startup" mode is perfectly acceptable - I do and don't have a problem. Warning: If you subsequently decide to choose "Normal startup", all disabled items will be re-enabled.

    Remove Startup Programs Buddy 2.2

Remove Startup Programs Buddy is a utility to remove malicious programs from Windows start-up. Remove Startup Programs Buddy inspects Windows start-up places and lists start-up programs so you could delete abusive items. Remove Startup Programs Buddy backs up configuration data so you can roll back all changes at any time. Version 2.2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Re: How do i remove start up programs

For those who are more venturous, there are Windows Registry entries that control Startup programs To access them, click Start, Run, enter regedit, expand the tree by clicking boxes "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" and other keys starting with run. Before making any changes I strongly recommend backing-up the registry by following the steps in regedit Help.

Another option, and one which will free-up disk space, is to permanently uninstall unwanted Startup programs with the manufactures uninstall program or in Start Menu--> Settings--> Control Panel--> Add/Remove Programs. One should not attempt to uninstall programs by simply deleting files and folders with the Windows Explorer. That leaves registry entries behind and can cause all sorts of problems.

Hope so it may help you out.
