    Re: WINDOWS 2003 Cluster Service

    follow these steps carefully:

    • Stop the cluster service on all nodes except the one performing the restore.
    • Restore the cluster database on that node by selecting to restore at least the system state. This creates a temporary folder under the Winnt\Cluster folder called Cluster_backup. You then restore the cluster configuration using the Clusrest.exe tool available in the Windows 2000 Resource Kit.
    • After you complete the process and the Cluster service has started successfully on the newly restored node, restart the other nodes.

for 2003, when you evict a node, that uninstalls cluster service from the node. Cluster service will not be listed as a service on the node until you reconfigure it. you should be able to add a "new node" to your cluster from your working cluster node or you can run cluadmin and join an existing cluster from the evicted node.

Restore a damaged cluster node using Automated System Recovery:

    1. To restore a damaged cluster node using Automated System Recovery
    2. Make sure you have the following on hand before you begin the recovery procedure:
    3. Your previously created Automated System Recovery (ASR) floppy disk and ASR backup media. The ASR disk and media contain the backed up cluster disk signatures, partition layouts, and cluster quorum.
    4. Your previously created backup media containing the data on the cluster nodes.
    5. The original operating system installation CD.
    6. If you have a mass storage controller and you are aware that the manufacturer has supplied a separate driver file for it , obtain the file before you begin this procedure.
    7. Insert the original operating system installation CD into the CD drive of the damaged cluster node.
    8. Restart your computer. If you are prompted to press a key to start the computer from CD, press the appropriate key.
    9. If you have a separate driver file as described in step 1, to use the driver as part of Setup, press F6 when prompted.
    10. Press F2 when prompted during the text-only mode section of Setup. You will be prompted to insert the ASR floppy disk you have previously created.
    11. Follow the directions on the screen.
    12. If you have a separate driver file as described in step 1, press F6 when prompted after the system reboots.
    13. Follow the directions on the screen.
    14. Once you have completed all the restore steps, the restored node can rejoin the cluster.

    Important Note:

If you are restoring a disk signature to a damaged cluster disk, power down all other cluster nodes except the one on which you are performing the ASR restore. This cluster node must have exclusive rights to the damaged cluster disk.

    Re: WINDOWS 2003 Cluster Service

Hey try to uninstall and then install Windows Cluster service on Windows Server 2003. Use the Cluster Administrator to install Windows Cluster service on Windows Server 2003 and to join an existing cluster. Both installing the cluster service and joining an existing cluster require you to open the Cluster Administrator. Open the Cluster Administrator from the Windows Start menu by selecting All Programs, then Administrative Tools, then Cluster Administrator.

Install and configure the Windows Cluster service by completing the following steps.

    1. Open the Cluster Administrator.

    2. In the Open Connection to Cluster dialog box that appears, in Action, select Create new cluster.

    3. Click OK to display the New Server Cluster wizard, which prompts you through the installation of the Cluster service for the first node.

    4. Click Next.

    5. Type the Domain (defaulted) and Cluster name.

    6. Type the Computer name (defaulted).

    7. Type the IP Address for the cluster management

    8. Type the Cluster Service Account User name, Password and Domain.

    9. Verify the Proposed Cluster Configuration.

After that try to Join an existing cluster
