    Re: error message C00D11B14

When you try to play music that you downloaded from the Zune Marketplace, you receive the following error message:C00D11B1. Typically, this error occurs when there is a problem with one of the sound devices in the computer, such as a sound card or a sound controller. However, this error can also occur if there is a problem with the file or with the Internet connection.Update the device driver for the sound card or for the sound controller.

    1. Update the device driver for the sound card or for the sound controller. To determine whether an updated driver is available, visit the Web site of the component manufacturer or visit the Microsoft Update Web site, http://update.microsoft.com (http://update.microsoft.com) .
    2. Use Device Manager to determine the status of the sound card or of the sound controller. Follow these steps:
    • For Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK.

    For Windows Vista, click Start
    Collapse this imageExpand this image
    Start button
, type devmgmt.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
    Collapse this imageExpand this image
    User Account Control permission
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or click Continue.
    • Expand Sound, video and game controllers, and then locate the name of the sound card or the sound controller.
    • If your sound device is listed but a red "X" appears next to the device, the device is disabled. To enable the device, right-click the icon, and then click Enable.

If the sound device does not appear in the list of sound devices, expand Other devices. If Multimedia Audio Controller appears in the list, right-click the icon, and then click Update Driver or Update Driver Software. Follow the instructions to locate and install the driver.
If you cannot locate or install the correct driver, contact the computer manufacturer or the manufacturer of the sound device for more help.
    3. If you do not have a sound device installed in the computer, install a sound card, and then try to play the file again. For information about how to install a sound card, contact the computer manufacturer or the manufacturer of the sound card.
    4. If you are trying to play a file over the Internet, the server might be temporarily unavailable or there might be a network issue. If this is the case, try again later.
    5. To resolve the problem, make a copy of the file, and then edit the ID3 header in the original file.
Note The ID3 header is the part of the file that stores album information, such as the song name, the artist name, the album name, and the genre. This information is also known as the "tag." You can use a non-Microsoft ID3 tag-editing program to remove or to reset the file's ID3 headers. You can search for and download many ID3 tag-editing programs on the Internet. After you remove the ID3 headers, the Zune software should be able to play the MP3 file.
Important When you try to remove ID3 headers, you can damage the file. If this occurs, the file may become unplayable. Therefore, always make a copy of the file before you edit the header.
    6. If these steps do not resolve the problem, the file itself may be corrupted. Download the file again. If you still experience this issue, contact Zune Customer Support.

There is a Microsoft website that checks the DRM components on your machine and then upgrades them: http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/...en/indivit.asp . Mind you, this is after running Microsoft/Windows Update which reports back that “Windows is up to date”. You need to download this patch to remove the error code and get everything working again.
