Only a few days of the end of the month AMD finally online version 9.1 (1st month of the year 2009) Catalyst drivers for Radeon graphics cards. At the beginning of this year, there was no question of improving performance in 3D, but rather to make bug fixes. A welcome initiative, in that two hotfixes have already been distributed to the drivers appeared in December (8.12)! As a novelty, AMD announced still full support OpenGL 3.0.
For an overview of the list of corrections made by AMD to its drivers, we will see the release notes, available from this page.
Both Windows XP and in Vista, the Catalyst 9.1 should be more stable, and some particularly annoying bugs, such as that caused the system to freeze the release of Windows Media Player after playing a high-definition content, have normally been corrected. You can download these drivers from the site of AMD. If the mobile version of Catalyst 9.1 is available, Linux users will have to wait a little longer.
