L and R margins not equal

Completed a newsletter using Adobe InDesign and printed it using an HP Photosmart 2610, running Vista Ultimate 64. Left and right margins were not equal.
Saved the file to an internal backup drive and rebooted in XP Pro, using a dual boot system. Brought the document up in InDesign using XP Pro, printed it, and the margins were just right.
Did a reinstall of the HP 2610 and installed a couple of updates, but can't get Vista to print the document with equal left and right margins, while the same document prints normally in XP Pro. I suspect Vista is the culprit although other features of InDesign work well in Vista.

Try test page it also displays information, such as the printer name, model, and driver software version, that can help you troubleshoot printer problems.

• Open Printers by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking Printers.
• Right-click the printer that you want to test, and then click Properties.
• On the General tab in the Printer Properties dialog box, click Print Test Page.

Try changing the page settings in vista. the issue you are facing is a software issue. open the document, go to file->page setup. configure the margin as per your requirement. All the best!

Create a new page size within the OS.

This can be reached from the InDesign Print dialog.

• Click on Page Setup...
• At the top, under settings, select Custom Paper Size Click New
• Name the page size (such as "Letter Full")
• Set the page size to 11 in high by 8.5 in wide.
• Set the margins to 0.25 (or 0 all around if you are sure)
• Click Save
• Click OK

In the middle, under Format For, select your printer

Below that, under paper size, select your new custom paper size

Click ok.

Continue with your print in InDesign.

Firstly, we need to ensure that the document has a baseline grid set. To do this, go to Edit>Preferences>Grids. The grouped area "Baseline Grid" contains the settings. Start is the starting position from the top of the document, Increment Every is the baseline setting.

Check whether you have Adobe Illustrator installed if it is there then perform the following actions:

1. Click on the File menu, then Preferences, and choose Smart Guides.
   
2. Turn Smart Guides on.
   
3. Create an object on the artboard.
   
4. Select the anchor point you want to use.
   
5. Note that as you move the cursor, the Smart Guides create lines and angles to assist you in your placement. Move your cursor to the angle you want, then click and drag to create your second object.
   
6. See that your second object is now aligned with your first object according to the angle you selected.
