Windows media player problem

Hi,
I want to watch movie in my windows media player but it freezes after say 2 mins.
Don't have any idea why its happening do you guys know what i should do to fix this?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it?

Did you download the bundle with player and codecs:-
DivX Bundle
A codec may have become corrupted. Try reinstalling that particular codec and if that doesn't work reinstall WMP.
Make sure that you uninstall any other CODEC PACKS that you may have previously installed and reboot your PC between each individual codec installation to avoid further conflicts.

You could run a program like Codec Sniper and remove damaged or unnecessary codecs. None of the programs you mentioned should have caused those problems with WMP. I have most of them on several systems with no problems. There is likely something else at work.

The freezing is likely from Explorer trying to read something it doesn't understand.

If a problem is less than 5 days old in XP then restart the system
pressing the F8 key and choose Command prompt only Dos or restart in
Msdos mode and type scanreg/restore and try an older reg(cab
file)backup,however you may have to re-install some programs and user
changes if they were installed after this date.
