    Media Player Quirk

Strangest thing started occuring today. Everytime I move my mouse Windows media player 11 starts. I click the x to close it and as soon as I move the mouse it restarts or comes back to the top! Any ideas on how to fix this? I tried going back to a restore point from yesterday, didn't help. The only thing I may have done to cause this is I downloaded a screensaver from the National street rod assocaition web site. I tried to uninstall it but can't find it anywhere.

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

Search for that screensaver through windows search and delete it straight away. Also delete files associated with it. Most of the screensavers downloaded online will always bring with them some crap and then the computer starts behaving strangely. Use Malwarebytes or other such malware removal tool to track and remove such crap. Also run your antivirus/antispyware.

Also, remove WMP 11 and install it again. This may also help to solve the problem.

The WMP 11 just starts and remain idle or it plays any music by its own? I have heard about a worm that starts WMP itself and plays some music by itself.

Gronev.A is a worm with a taste for music. On infecting a computer, it opens Windows Media Player and plays a song called ‘Lagu’. It also opens an MS-DOS window with the word ‘Vergon,’, when CMD console is executed. While showing this window, Gronev.A creates a new user account on the system, which cannot be accessed by the legitimate user.
Hope this is not in your case. Its a dangerous worm

Screensaver DELETED. Ran Malwarebytes, AVG, spybot S&D, Ad Aware and all came back clean. Still same problem.

WMP 11 started and remained idle. After trying various things with no luck, I figured I'd remove the wireless mouse and replace with a wired mouse. Problem Solved ! Must have been a glitch with the mouse driver.

Great that the problem is solved. So now you are using wired mouse. But its still not very good that wireless mouse cannot be used. It must be the driver problem of that wireless mouse and reinstalling the drivers might solve the problem.

Got to Start -> Programs and Right-click on 'Startup". Choose Open.

If you see a screensaver related file of some sort in the folder, remove it.
