I am trying from several weeks to understand why VLC reads files (taken from a site streaming) with the codec avc1 and does not read other files with the same codec (although these functions play files on other computers).

small precision on my computer:
AMD Duron 950 mhz
Graphics card GeForce 2
Windows XP under vista theme
256 MB of RAM
I'd grab media player classic. Its my favorite and its always good to have as a stand by. It will be good to try it out and see if something else has caused a problem with VLC's decompression process, which is what I suspect.
Probably some codecs are missing!
