hidden files

Hello, I have a recent problem on my Windows XP. I can not show hidden files!
When I do the:
Tools -> Folder Options -> Display
I select "show hidden files and folders"
-> OK
And as if by magic, when I go back to Tools -> Folder Options -> Display ...
The option "show hidden files and folders" is no longer tick!
And while I try to make it work, but nothing was done!
Someone could help me please

I sympathize and I joined up . It made me for quite some time (I'm also on XP ) and for now the only way I found to get around this problem is by doing Ctrl + F (Find) and there are all files and folders, even hidden.

This problem is caused by a virus. To go fast you can transfer via msconfig all unwanted programs that launch at startup and restart your machine, then open the register (with regedit) and you check the following options:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced \ Folder \ Hidden \ SHOWALL
CheckedValue = 1
DefaultValue = 2

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced \ Folder \ Hidden \ NOHIDDEN
CheckedValue = 2
DefaultValue = 2
